What a wonderful time of year to start a blog on food! Today I picked baby beets, red and green romaine lettuce, red oakleaf lettuce and onions from my garden. Tonight, I will roast the beets with onions, yellow squash and rutabagas, drizzled with a little olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper. The veggies will be my main course with a side of grilled Soutisso, a lean sausage made from pork loin and spices. (Soutisso will be a subject of another blog) This is my kind of eating. I have learned over the years to appreciate fresh foods and especially those that I have grown myself, free from preservatives and pesticides.
